Christmas Bells

Christmas Bells

~ Bells that ring past darkness and light,
Sounds that echo and take a flight,
Vibes that always tune up just right,
Colors that brighten up the night.
Sleigh bells ringing and dinging 'round,
Any child will love the sound,
   Its rare appearance will astound,
While Christmas Day I sing songs-found.

Music of the Common Man

Music of the Common Man

~ Music was mundane and real
And brought for uses of appeal
Yet something here is not quite right,
As now it's made just for the deal.

~ Music used to be for fun
Ideas were thought up on the run
Today it's seen as not the same,
As licks and songs are overdone.

~ Music was a way to perk
Our hearts and minds were filled with irk
Those pains will only grow full-strength,
With songs now titled, "You're a Jerk."

~ Music came from those with pride
From those who fully worked and tried
Now, most artists lack the effort
   Critics listen, just to abide.

~ Music...what more can one say?
We listen to it every day.
New novelties wear our pleasures thin
"Can music be restored?", I pray.

Failure

Failure

~You travel far and travel forth
One path heads south, the other north
To look and see south's end is Failure
Leads one to find north's end a savior
There's no one way to right or wrong
As either or can last life-long
One path is corrupt with twists and bends
The other holds but towns and dead-ends
"Which path is better?", you ask yourself
It seems quite clear to those, like myself
With failure you can just restart,
But why is this path hard to part?
Success just leads to journey's end
With no full reason to contend
Both paths can't help with what you yearn
Since one is flawed and the other can't learn.

Dancing

Dancing

~ 'Tis a movement of grace or passion or fun
And somewhat a hobby in the moon or the sun
With twirls, jumps and moves of a nimrod
There are even some that require a run
It's a mystery how such a thing can be won
As it's merely a tool for the pleasure of facade
There's "Cha-Cha", "The Tango" or even the "Charleston"
The "Waltz", "The Jitterbug" or songs from a boatman
It's a mystery how such a thing can be awed
For some, it escapes from jumping the gun
This act is something which people don't shun
I wish I could not be the man of applause
But someone who joins in, before it is done.

The Sky

The Sky

~ Somedays we see sun
Other times we see the night
   With clouds in between.

Randomness

Randomness

~Come and walk, you and I
We'll see a world that will never die
We'll see a world that asks us "Why?"
And we'll find reasons why we comply.

~I can see it now, the possibilities
This place is what we wish would be
This place with both friends and enemies
And contradictions are a meaningless sea.

~There would be no need for violence,
But those with struggles could get guidance
It could be a universe of great essence
And we'd honor those who'd make a presence.

~The second coming of imagination
Would bring to life a new creation
Life would return with its new union,
Which we would bring both thought and action.

~However, there could be great trauma
And you may see strong drugs and vodka
"How we discover such awful drama?"
Is something else paid with a quota

~And now we see the world is restless
With mixed emotions such as happiness
"What is this land that gives great deepness?"
It's this complex world of randomness.

What is a Saxophone?

What is a Saxophone?

~What is a Saxophone?
Some call it an instrument
Others see it otherwise
I, myself, with such content,
Claim the "Sax" to be a prize.

~What is a Saxophone?
It is regarded for its music
And its ever-vibrant sound
One musician may play forth a trick,
Until a beat is found.

~What is a Saxophone?
Saxophone players are great,
Like Parker to Coltrane to "G"
And students often imitate,
But I like to play like me.

~Just what is a Saxophone?
Compared to instruments, aside
Is it one of the best in the world?
That is for you to decide.

The Snowman

                                    The Snowman

~The snowman sits upon his home
He wishes for an igloo dome
He wears a single hat on head
And has no place to go or roam.

~To us, he is inanimate
To us, he is considered “it”
To us, he has a frozen soul
To us, to build, we use the kit.

~For now, we see him watch the sun
But soon, he will be long but done
As long as there is snow around
I shall build another one.
